why journey doesn’t exist 2/15/16

you tell me journey is like an a-to-b.
we are here and we will get there.
or we win and that is the reward.
call it travel or the goal of your efforts.
something to do with now
but for the purpose of a then,
as if there is payoff for now in the then,
a just reward for persistence and refocus,
that is dismissive of the richness of now,
a kind of traveling road show of cognitive dissonance
that dresses up ‘now’ in effort’s wardrobe,
it makes now tasky as if tolerant with patience.
now is used up, a flush, to get to a there or a then.
journey is laced with the yips of expectation.
journey is waiting for the reception of outcome.
journey is a framing style complete with shortcuts,
impendings,  expedites, the load of undertakings,
endeavor against all odds, exertion as if toil,
and the internal silence of grind and laboring.
journey has all of these fronts as formalisms.
they provide for framework and themes.
something like ‘no pain, no gain’ is understood.
journey is true for the beholder
when that is your framing background.
surely you can get to where you want to go
but you also brought along your own baggage
of how you are personally encumbered to get to there.
if that there, that reward for your journey
is somehow enhanced by your means of accomplishment
then it is merely comparative truth
as something of potential
for your bucket-list achievement.
journey as metaphor, is more like a lit candle.
yes the, candle is burning down
but the payoff is
the light provided for each moment’s passage.
journey, if it is the joy of movement,
then each step, each breath, is its own reward.
journey is only one second long,
one thought to the next
and then, a new journey begins.
but we don’t call that journey,
living moment to moment
and basking in its prevail,
that is not considered journey.
we have to have laborious and distraction,
rekindle and arrival in the big picture journey-frame.
secretly, well, most privately, really unpronounced,
the most intriguing journey is still consciousness.
however dressed with props and account
and for all practical purposes,
but nobody in their right mind
calls consciousness a journey.
that is a dumbfounding remark to make.
but really, just between you and I,
this is exactly why journey doesn’t exist . . .
