understanding is a house
with more closets than rooms.
there are more irrational emotional costumes
in those closets than there are
mirrors in the house itself.
coming out of the closet
is more meaningful than understand can.
is this the neighborhood
where personal evolution could, live.
for hidden agendas don’t have the time of the day
yet the energetic truth of being
could walk these pathways
in daylight or at night,
and come upon neighborly recognition.
is this then where people could live
beyond their projections
and those following contractual expectations?
understanding is only a residence there.
but community is the cohesive worth of it all
as a kinship of soul-searchers,
with sidewalks of empathy underfoot
and streets composed of two-way compassion.
this is an inner-city,
filled with two-story dwellings of kindheartedness.
understanding only makes for the houses
but thoughtfulness with spirit in residence,
makes for these into homes . . .
