I am mostly
the time spent
mocking myself
by being in character.
These are the seeds
of a self
that are overly nourished
to foster a kind of subtle
but disingenuous sincerity
into a forthright
projective manner
that I falsely believe in
as my own act.
This is a self-consciousness
having appearances of control,
offered for a gain of respect
to evidence myself
in the best possible
consensual light.
But I am only
mocking myself
by doing so.
