How did this happen?
The onset of objectivity . . .
It is more damaging
then the cultivation of land.
It is more far reaching
then the invention of books
and it is more insidious
then the pollution of the environment.
How did this happen?
This onset of objectivity . . .
Imagine the nature of perception
and how experience worked
in the beginning,
before objectivity.
In the course of self-consciousness
as human endeavor,
what was a relative context?
What was the role
of comparative truth?
How did human experience
father this consensual myopia?
How did experience
invest in human entitlement?
Objectivity is also more than
the naming of things
into a mental equivalency.
It is a referential perception
of eventually everything.
What was
our direct primal experience?
We do have a relative context
for space and self.
Our mind-fill of perceptions
translates into experiences.
We have professed by action
being in response
as opposed to being receptive
to what is more subtly occurring.
Yet by the method
of objectivity alone,
we tend to be
more symbolically evidential
and self-promotional to others.
Objectivity is a procedure
of righteous justification.
It is a specialized set of rules
that apply in a limited set
of circumstances.
Objectivity infers a set of assumptions
both at the “causal level”
as well as at the socially ordained
“how it should be known” level.
Invoking objectivity
suggests dismissal
of any other means for observation
or serious perusal.
Objectivity seems to control
the pecking order of value
for all other types of initial experiences;
from an active imagination
to prejudice,
from personal bias to collective view,
from psychic hogwash to silly hunch,
from emotional highs to sour grapes,
from credentialed to lack of expertise,
from neophyte to elderly,
from clueless to rank,
from impressionable to hard ass,
from wise man to punk.
All are displaced
by the position of ‘objectively speaking’.
The league of the righteous
is obliged by objectivity.
States of sanity
are proposed by objectivity.
The compression of thought
into decision,
the certitude of conclusion,
and the conciseness of language,
are sentinels of objectivity.
The onset of objectivity
as a technique
has fashioned our world
into consensually limited options
in a mentally linear pace.
No mind actually works this way.
No brain
functionally serves its master
this way.
Objectivity is a persuasion
as much as gravity is obvious.
It is a false burden of frame
and as pretentious as name-dropping
and yet we
as a living collective organism,
provide for its ongoing existence
by living it alive. . .
what objectivity?
