the many faces of indifference
have seen too many conclusions
that either go no where in effectiveness
or just stand around
being judgmentally no fun.
if the thought process was a form
of mind-travel
then, seen-it, done-it, been-there
breeds indifference.
if topic seems to be a bleed-out
or a righteous blatant bold-face lie
or leading one into an abstract dally
or bating one into endless questions
about the scourge of pending details
or topic weighed against time of interest
then maybe indifference rears up in a flush.
it can come to be
a general demeanor of presentation
for purposes of saving on time, face,
the show of interest.
yes, it is one thing as a public projection
but another as an ongoing state of mind.
this could be a chicken and egg thing
as in which came first,
the world is an indifferent place
or one is indifferent to the world.
either way, mind is both at effect
and in consequence.
indifference is a working perspective.
it is investment
and denial sequencing together.
it's a self-guardianship in its rigorousness
but not clearly identified
as to the who or what
of self being protected.
it's posed as a reactive state
but active in the attention it takes
to be on guard.
none of it is real
and it is mostly a gloss.
not an easy basis for generating self as value
even though there maybe be
an inner claim as such.
it is a house of cards as a brain trust.
indifference is over-griping
on the protest position
by a passivity that denies its true existence.
there is a lot of complexity
buried into indifference.
it is a cultivation cured
over in-time circumstances
great surmise has produced
a dumb-down response
it is the angst of passivity
in actively promoted silence.
at some point anguish was wagging its tail.
indifference is a welcome mat
to a haunted house.
if the truth be told
can never approach the first person lips.
we, as a culture-weave,
seem to produce an endless supply.
you want indifference?
you want that delivered
or is this a local pickup?
on any given day
every mirror will face back at indifference.
not all of the time, but adequately, enough.
indifference, starts with a mindset installed
and eventually becomes the face
of a self-industry.
it's never an original version of a self.
certainly not autobiographically intended
but can come to represent
an untold story of self
that has no clear beginning
and very possibly no ending
in the fore-see-ables to come.
if there was a dermatology for indifference,
then emotions would need
to find a new language base
to represent cause and worthiness
in a new skin.
hey think of it this way:
indifference is like having an imaginary dog
on a hard wire leash
that looks like a real leash
but upon closer inspection,
no real dog
and really, no flex
in the appearance of leash.
indifference has no reason
to go to the dog-park
ever . . .
