Breath is
the only really natural prayer.
Thought could follow
though unkempt, irreverent,
distracted, impatient, unfocused,
and the list builds of aimless,
listless attributes
brought to the attention mode
by the mind,
that may or may not assist.
Breath
though at a loss for utmost,
does have redeemable aspects
that we all partake of and from.
If breath is the lead
then the mind as awareness
must follow
by whatever concessionary means
is necessary for the mind to learn
and assist.
Certainly the reverse is not the way!
Breathe.
Wow if the mind had to lead,
what kind of breath pattern
would that produce?
Ops, conscious breathing
could be very clumsy
to fully experience….directly.
What a silly option,
breath attention before mindfulness
in the normal vain.
This would be like bad reality TV.
Who would volunteer for that role?
High tech observation,
multi-screen viewing, CT scans,
sensors, probes, electrodes,
EEGs, x-rays, antennae,
mind sweepers, EKGs,
trained sensing animals,
diagnostic tools everywhere,
MRIs, blood scanners,
Ultrasound, background music,
the low whispered
investigative voice over,
and the “all in” poker move
from the scientific/medical.
So breathe . . .
No one is watching.
It is just you,
taking a deep breath.
No performance anxiety,
just a simple joy
and your ability
to give consciousness
to it . . .
