and a middle to justify an end.

Report-ability is then hired

when judgment consensually demands.

Enlightened awareness

yields no cause or blame

just more of the exposed surface

of what is,

but when there are consequences

there are bottle-head dolls

everywhere and nodding.

Consequences speak

on behalf of dashed expectations.

Consequences make experience

the grandparents listening.

Consequences are on bystanders

recall to a flashflood’s

memorable passing.

Consequences dress-up in descriptives

acting out motive and blame.

Consequences are omissions

willing to play hide and seek.

Consequences are acts of the mind

holding a press conference

as if it is a learning environment

well attended.

Consequences are wounded messengers

where reading lips

is ignoring the undisclosed bleeding.

Consequences are bound to make claims

about endangered species

while the rest of the ecosystem

goes without saying.

And finally,

consequences are wan-na-be stand-alones

unable to get everything else out of frame.
