shared trauma can be a bleed-out into trust,
from behind the shadowbox of self to others.
it's a skip of all of the preliminaries in place
and begins with common threads,
unexpectedly almost inadvertently revealed.
emotions are on high
and effortlessly broadcast.
the projected self is set aside
for a core responsiveness.
it's a wonder,
we don't live this way normally,
without the drama of catastrophe, devastation or disaster
to bring into focus
a higher set of human priorities.
yes, the circumstance is overwhelming
but the heart space made available
is vast and comforting.
such a paradox of human enterprise
in the making.
it seems that war is an attempt
at doing both,
having trust and devastation
in the same breath,
but still keeping sides as if keeping score.
what evil lives within
that others express
and we hold them accountable
for our reactions . . .
