the lifespan of a lie,
depends on the amount and type of truth
carried in it.
many lies can outlive outright truth,
simply by the means of their carriage
and the complexity of clarity needed
to discern say,
the candle from the flame,
the shadow from the light,
the fragrance from the exhaust,
the original from the copies,
high tide on a beach walk,
time of day from shadows cast,
the written word that was spoken first,
the roots for the presumption of innocence,
how intuition comes to have clarity,
where truth lies,
because of its limited intent,
and where lies
what really matters,
is witness to the all of this . . .
