why have age
as a sign of relevance?
at some point in life,
the mirror lies but keeps smiling.
the consternation, upon viewing,
is a sum total of lies.
age is a concessionary logic.
it is a fallback,
on a trampoline of memories.
age doesn't naturally speak from wisdom.
it's a checklist
about body-part stories
and then their complexities.
age is an indoctrination syndrome.
it's as prejudicial as positional can get.
you are either of it
or reactive to it,
as if personal experience
can ever really account for itself,
as if life is linear,
one frame of reference at a time,
where movie becomes metaphor
and the living is primarily referential.
life is ever unwrapping the present.
the gifts of yourself,
ever to be this moment's discovery.
if age is a technique for this,
than we should all learn the refinements.
otherwise, age should be about curb appeal,
tree rings of relevance rediscovered,
those that are gifted,
as trackers, leading,
those that table-spread a moment,
beyond time,
those that have chiseled embodiment,
be as presence,
and those that wear spirit,
ever on their outside . . .
