the mirror lies,
by perception's observation.
not the glass itself,
that is about its task,
but the reflection
is always subject to interpretation.
somewhere between the surface and back,
illusion happens.
from the face to the glass
is honestly presented.
well, it is at least projected.
the glass, wildly impartial,
without distain, reflects.
and then it happens,
human sight is introduced
into the measure.
how what is seen,
is sought,
as possibly the overall,
then the facial,
more specifically
zooming in on the face,
the symmetry or not,
is the visual cornerstones,
of selfdom recognized.
a slight fuss might occur,
but overall the glance pushes on,
past the rendering,
past the ever so slight newness
of the facial,
past the skin scrutiny,
towards the presence
of the presentation,
the composure
of being face to face.
and if the mirror is big enough,
like tall enough to include,
there is the easy visual cascade downward.
assuming as if
a dress rehearsal,
there is nothing errant
to self report.
just passing the test,
from passible to actually acceptable,
to possibly,
even neat to maybe classy.
okay, that was all mind-stuff reaction.
mirror-time is actually mind-work,
done in real time but compacted.
the look, the view,
the expectation, the curious adventure,
the corrections driven by self intimacy,
the eventual acceptance as such.
and so the projection has a podium of self,
so the rest of the day can have animation,
from fireside chats
to broadway show.
and yes,
the mirror didn't lie,
but the truth,
may never be told . . .
