what if
our senses worked for us
by deeper inquiry
rather than just certitude?
instead of verifying,
they went deeper
into the odors and entrails of the world
that lie beyond our generalized sensing.
instead of taste for flavor
and smell for scent,
they worked for deeper truths existing,
as in taste for body chemistry needs
and smells for maladies in the moment,
the taste of herbs
that are affirmed as a bodily need,
the smell of odors
that confirm a state of health or illness of being.
recognition short-circuited these as skill sets
for conclusions as false gratification's need.
every person is their own specialist.
other species are wise to that for themselves.
yet we went off
being experience junkies,
as a superficial version of life as gloss.
created so much industry as a false positive.
and square one is still in everyone's pocket . . .
