the hidden blessedness of depression

 

depression is a manifestation of deep honesty.

an honesty from beyond 

the social context of apparent reality.

it is an unsourced deeper truth 

that cannot be named straightforwardly. 

it can present as vast bleakness.

it can vary from unattainable familiarity 

to feeling amputeed of soul.

and it can eventually produce 

a logjam of physical symptoms and response,

a tinnitus-kind of constant impending emptiness

and a pervading overwhelm of longing

in a vice grip of compromise.  

it is connection to spirit of self that is unrealized.

the rational account of oneself 

does not include this kind of source-fulness.

this energetic truth, that lives unconsciously,

appears to represent as dysfunctional.

one needs to witness from such a depth

that it includes irrational contexts 

and other possibilities

to see the wholeness of one's being.

we, as a culture of self-consciousness,

do not embrace those kinds of perceptions

or that depth of being 

for us to be whole.

therefore the individual, set apart,

is on a journey to create a world that includes

the wholeness of themselves yet unrealized.

all of us are in need in the same way

but not of the same necessity 

as these specific and special few.

destiny calls from a very deep place to these individuals

while the rest of us are personally allowed 

to meander and wander with some sense of ease.

for many, the self-dialogue that goes on inwardly,

does not address the kind of depth

that is needed to be brought into focus.

and so we, as a culture, suggest medicate and divert.

but that hidden inner truth, once realized,

would serve us all, well.

each of us are our own private religion

without the necessity of this kind of self-clarity.

but for some, the calling is strong

and specifically deep. 

and we would all benefit from the revelations

from their deeply sourced blessedness.

they feel for the space 

of their inward expansiveness 

with avoidance, as the weight and the sovereignty 

and the sullenness of vastness 

are all the constituents of this, an unresolved void.

depression indicates that for some,

a larger more energetic presence of being

has needs to become conscious

beyond rational constraints

and reality formats that do not address 

the larger and deeper picture of being.

that for some, is mandatory, 

without the restraint of giving appearances

of being normalized in a conventional way.

a larger spirit of being

can be trapped in a person

who does not have the given consciousness

to transcend their reality circumstance.

higher cause and calling remain concealed 

but know that the light burns deeply from within.

even if for some,

the load is perceived as overwhelming

in the privacy of their person.

awareness by another, alters that context

in favor of discovery and personal growth.

and the surfacing of their deep truth

serves all of humankind in our advancement.
