we all grew up
in a world of benevolent prejudice.
nothing said,
but everything thought,
as if language had two worlds.
the said world
of open verbal exchange
and the unsaid world
with feelings felt
that never made it
to the mouth out-loud.
the conditioning is strong
and uncontested.
so much hurt and slighting
went into the production
of inner prejudice
and so little effort
towards the release there of.
we are all carrying baggage
of this kind.
fits of reaction posed
but not ever released.
the therapy of living provides
but we have to be patient.
we have to be both,
the noun and the verb.
prejudice is this inner confinement,
we have come to live inside of.
can't travel beyond
or fly away from.
this emotional baggage
is of weighty proportions.
self aware
is therapy first hand.
inner witness starts the dialogue.
discovery is a self conversation away.
we are all load barons,
waiting for release,
from the silent encumbrances . . .
