it’s not the talons but it’s the wings
it’s not the smile but it’s the eyes
it’s not the posture but the presence
it’s not the verbiage but the tone
it’s never the shadow and always the sun
it’s seldom why but always how
it’s not that you understand
but it’s that you actualize
it’s not comparative truth
but more so my conceptual override
and it’s not a compliment
but mostly awestruck-ness in accolades
said in the same breath
as a sequence of consecutive awes . . .
